Hours and FeesThe Extended Day Program follows the school calendar. On full school days, the Extended Day Program is offered from:
Please NOTE: No after school program will be provided on days in which children dismiss early. RegistrationOnly students of Old St. Mary’s School can be enrolled in the program. Enrollment forms can be found online and should be completed and returned to the school office. Before school care is charged at $5.00, each day it is used. After school care is charged at $7.00 an hour. Billing is completed bimonthly, at the end of the first and third weeks of every month. Payments made after the due date will incur a late fee of $25.00. Extended Day services will be suspended until all fees are paid. SnacksEach day a snack will be provided for your child. Old St. Mary’s School is committed to providing healthy food choices. Please notify staff of any food allergies upon registration. If your child is unable to eat the snacks provided by the Extended Day program, please contact our office. In this case, you will be responsible for providing a nutritious snack that suits the needs of your child. Outdoor RecessAll students participate in outdoor recess. If the “real-feel” temperature is 25 degrees or higher, students will spend some portion of their afternoons outdoors. Please make sure they have the appropriate footwear and outerwear. Illness/AccidentChildren who are ill should not be in school. If a child becomes ill in the Extended Day Program, his parents will be called for immediate pick-up. If the parents are unavailable, the next name on the Emergency Contact will be called. If a child has an accident during the Extended Day Program, parents will be notified. Behavior/DisciplineThe Extended Day Program is a privilege. It is part of the Old St. Mary’s School program; so the same expectations of good conduct are assumed. The program strives to provide an environment that focuses on children managing their own behavior. Children are expected to demonstrate and maintain appropriate and safe behavior. When a discipline problem develops, the staff will attempt to redirect a child to an appropriate activity whenever possible. The staff will separate a child from the group if he/she is misbehaving, and the staff will explain to the child why he/she is being disciplined. The child will be asked to rejoin the group when he/she feels ready. If a child continues to misbehave, then a meeting between the Director and the child’s parents will be set up to work out a resolution. ToysPersonal belongings, such as toys and electronic games, are not allowed in the Extended Day Program without the prior approval of the Director. Before School ProceduresEach child must be signed in daily within the school building by an authorized person listed on the child’s registration form. The children will be supervised in Room 11. The school doors open to children in the Extended Day Program at 7:30 AM. When school officially begins, children will dismiss directly to their classrooms. After School ProceduresAt dismissal, children in the Extended Day Program will be taken to their respective classrooms for snack and check-in. Any child who is not picked up within 10 minutes of the 2:40 dismissal will be taken directly to the Extended Day program and checked-in by the teacher. Children may be picked up any time prior to 5:30 PM. Only those persons, authorized on the Extended Day Program Registration, are allowed to pick up the children. If school staff is unfamiliar with the person designated to pick up a child, identification will be requested. Parents/guardians should go directly to Room 11 to sign out their child. Signature and time should be entered legibly in the Extended Day Book. Students will meet their parents in Room 11. Parents are expected to pick up their children on time each day. All children must be picked up by 5:30 PM. A late fee of $25 will be charged for children not picked up on time. Consistent late pick up will result in the child being withdrawn from the program. Single Parent/Other Relative ConsiderationsThe Extended Day Program staff must be alerted to any special concerns regarding custody, visitation, etc. Court orders must be placed on file with the school office if a parent is restricted from contact with a child. When the Registration is completed, the parents must indicate the names of all persons who are authorized to sign out a child from the Extended Day Program. Returned ChecksIf a check is returned for any reason to us for non-sufficient funds, the family will be charged an additional $35.00. Should this happen more than once, we will ask that all your future payments be made in cash. EmergencyIn case of an emergency, you may call the Extended Day Program phone at 312 363-8897 to leave a message for the Director. You may also leave a message with the Parish receptionist at the front desk, at 312 922-3444.
