She/Her/Hers

As a longtime educator with teaching experience in elementary, middle, and high school settings, I love working with young people. My teaching style prioritizes student voice and inquiry as a means of building students' intrinsic motivation, academic skills, and confidence while also cultivating wonder and joy.

I hold a B.A. from Yale University and a J.D. from The University of Chicago Law School. I am grateful to the many outstanding teachers who have taught me, and I seek to create a learning community of deep curiosity, intellectual rigor, and robust dialogue in my own classroom.

I am the mother of four grown children. I enjoy reading, singing, swimming, baking, and spending time with my family. I live with my husband, John, and my cat, Otto, in the OSM neighborhood.

Hi! My name is Sara Pinchback; this is my second year teaching at OSM. I started substitute teaching at OSM in the 2019-2020 school year. Before that, I taught middle and high school from 2007-2016. I have been a member of the OSM community since my children joined in 2018, and think it is a very special place. This year, I will be working with 6th, 7th, and 8th-graders in Social Studies. I grew up in Buffalo, NY, and am a diehard Buffalo Bills fan. I graduated from SUNY Geneseo with a degree in Business Management and earned my master's degree from CUNY Hunter in Secondary Education and History. I have lived in New York City, Boston, and Connecticut, but Chicago has been home since 2016.  I love anything science fiction and enjoy spending time with my fam watching or playing sports and traveling.

Matt Evenstad

He/Him/His

My name is Matt Evenstad. I moved to Chicago two years ago after receiving my undergraduate degree from Minnesota State University, Mankato. For the past two years, I have worked as a Religion and Social Studies teacher in the Archdiocese of Chicago. I was led to OSM after participating in the Archdiocese's Rising Leaders Academy - and what a blessing it has been!

In my free time, I enjoy reading, playing sports at local parks, and running.

Before beginning my teaching career, I worked in a variety of roles, including as a personal trainer, chef, police department intern, and construction worker. Each of these experiences has helped shape the person and educator I am today.

I am a passionate educator who hopes to pay it forward by inspiring and empowering the next generation of scholars!
